Diodoros – the Wine of the Valley

Diodoros – the Wine of the Valley” sees the light in the vineyards cultivated at the foot of the Temple of Juno, on sandy and stony soils of alluvial origin; the winemakers of the Valley, over the years, have made a natural “selection” in order to optimize the unique characteristics of this territory. The Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grape varieties – either in purity or wisely mixed – create a rich, exclusive range of ruby red wines that bring back millenary traditions.

The fame of the Valley of the Temples as an exceptional place for wine echoes in the words of Empedocles of Agrigento and Diodorus Siculus, both in the relation to the landscape and the wealth of its citizens, as testified by Tellia’s winery with its three hundred cisterns and its tub with a capacity of one thousand amphorae.

From history to archeology, an ancient millstone for grape pressing, dug into the rock nearby the Temple of Juno, testifies still nowadays the dedication of the Agrigentini to vine processing and to the production of wine.
